Environmental/Energy
Slattery Strategy cares about making sure policy is written that aids in the protection and restoration of environmental practices and the development of clean, renewable sources of energy. With years of experience writing environmental policy into law as a member of Congress who served on the Energy and Commerce Committee, Jim diligently pursued legislation for a cleaner world. Most notable was the crafting and passing of the 1990 Clean Air Act.
Railroads
Slattery Strategy’s interest in the rail industry dates back to days on the Energy and Commerce Committee when Jim was a leader on rail issues including his effort to avert a national rail strike. He has represented two Class I Railroads on a long list of rail issues over the last 20 years including rail mergers, positive train control (PTC), rail labor matters, corporate governance, regulatory issues and spectrum.

Jim Slattery served 12 years on the House Energy and Commerce Committee that has broad jurisdiction over Health Care policy including Medicaid and Medicare and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He has worked extensively with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Since leaving the Congress he has advised clients including publicly traded corporations in the managed care business on a range of public policy issues pending before the Congress and executive branch agencies. Slattery has been actively involved in the national debate on health care policy since the 1980’s.
